How to Build Up Boost in a Turbo Diesel

Determining Your Turbo Type 1. Research the type of vehicle you own and the turbocharger it is equipped with. Turbochargers and boost management systems vary by model. Determine the maximum safe amount of boost for your engine, per the manufacturers recommendation. 2. Establish a way to monitor the boost produced by your turbocharger. Purchase and install a boost gauge to monitor the performance of your turbocharger and ensure that you do not produce more boost than recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. Boost is measured in pounds per square inch (PSI) and gauges which read up to 60 PSI are available from various automotive performance companies. 3. Stock tachometers will indicate unsafe operating ranges with red markings. Locate the RPM gauge, also called a tachometer, on your dashboard. Hyundai Veloster Turbo Edition

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster made its debut this year at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Hyundai seems to think so which is why they have decided to turbo it up with the Hyundai Veloster Turbo edition. Adding some turbo to the existing equipment will get the power out put up to 208 HP at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 195 lbs-ft available from 1,600 rpm to 5,000 rpm. The new engine will be available in late 2012. New Car Review 2011 Kia Optima Turbo

  The 2011 Kia Optima Turbo. It occurs to me I dont know the Korean word for "hat-trick". Or the one for "three-peat". Its just never come up. Until now. If the face above looks familiar to regular TireKicker readers, thats because it is. Its the Kia Optima Turbo. On September 10, we reviewed the base Optima, on October 11, the Optima Hybrid, and now, on November 19, its the Turbos turn. One car, three powerplants. The  standard Optima has 200 horsepower, the Optima Hybrid packs 166 horsepower from its gasoline engine and an additional 40 from the electric, for a total of 206 (and neither of those cars is slow) and the Optima Turbo brings 274 horses to the party. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S shows up with 550 hp

This new version of the German SUV offers a more aggressive aesthetic with an engine that develops 550 horsepower. Porsche has unveiled the new Cayenne Turbo S who joins the family and in turn has become the most powerful of the range. Its exterior features dark finishes on the grille, mirrors and headlight frame. It also has 21-inch wheels under the name 911 Turbo II and the brake calipers in red color. The interior of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S combines red seats covered in leather with applique in gray and black steering wheel. Also offer multiple combinations of colors and materials such as carbon. Under the bonnet lies a motor that delivers 550 horsepower (50 hp more than the Turbo version), which allow you to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph.
