How to Lower an Audi TT

Replacing Front Springs 1. Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it so that both front wheels are off the ground. Remove the wheels. 2. Remove the ABS (antilock brake) wire grommet and cable from the strut and remove the lower pinch bolt that connects the strut to the steering knuckle. 3. Compress the spring with the spring compressor to relieve pressure from the suspension. Separate the strut from the steering knuckle (which might take some effort), lowering the lower control arm as needed. Remove the axle from the steering knuckle and lay it on the lower suspension. 4. Remove the windshield wipers and cover (later model Audi TTs) to access the upper strut bolt. Remove the single strut bolt while an assistant supports it from the bottom. Allowing the strut to simply fall without support may cause the spring clamp to jar loose, sending the highly pressurized spring flying across your garage. 5. Slowly remove the spring clamp from the strut assembly and lift the spring fre...

How to Replace an Audi TT Windshield

1. Inspect the windshield frame. If it has dents, cuts or corrosion, get it repaired. The new windshield will not bond to a bent frame. 2. Lay down vinyl drop cloths over the hood and dashboard. Windshields are made from safety glass, and if it is hit, it can shatter in many small pieces. 3. Remove the wiper blades and arms with a screwdriver. 4. Remove the rubber trim. Insert the screwdriver under the trim. Lift and pull the trim completely off the car. 5. Break the caulk by cutting around the windshield with a razor blade. 6. Remove the windshield. Insert the pry bar under the windshield. Gently pry the glass up. Go around the entire windshield slowly. An assistant can help you lift the glass out of the car. 7. Sand the mounting surface and new windshield. Sand the entire area of the mounting surface. Apply your bonding agent to the windshield frame. Rub your sandpaper along the inside edge of the new windshield. Apply the bonding agent to the sanded surface of the new ...

How to Troubleshoot the Cruise Control on an Audi TT

1. Pull up the fuse panel release lever to pull the fuse panel down and open it. 2. Look for the brake light and cruise control fuses using the diagram located on the back of the fuse panel lid. The problem could be simply a damaged or burned out fuse. 3. Check for a rough feel in the idling position and sucking sound coming from the engine bay. This means there is a vacuum leak -- a hole in the intake hoses that is allowing additional air into the system. This will adversely affect the cruise control. 4. Look at the throttle cable to see whether it is fraying or in disrepair, as either of these will keep the cruise control from controlling the throttle properly.

How to Change Audi TT Headlights

1. First, select the new headlights you want to install. The Audi TT can use a high-intensity discharge (HID) bulb or an light-emitting diode (LED) package. Choose which one you want from an auto parts store. 2. To access the headlights, you must pop the trunk and remove the headlights from behind the casings. Open the trunk and find the back of the headlight wires. These should feed right into the middle of the headlight assembly. 3. Loosen the securing screws around the headlight connection. The connection is a small plastic piece at the end of the wires. Some twisting and maneuvering may be needed to get at the screws. Loosen all the screws but do not completely remove them. 4. Once the screws are loosened, twist the headlight connector until it pulls freely out of the headlamp case. The bulb and connector will come out together. 5. Release the headlight bulb from the connector by depressing the clip or attachment (some models may have different types of clips) and pull ou...
